Okay--It's summa summa summertime

This is me sleeping on the boat. This is also me using lots of sun tan lotion to help keep my skin healthy. If you need advice on what to use on your skin this summer check out Heidi and Ryan's blog regarding skin care! There is no need to get burned and ruin your beautiful healthy skin just to be "tan". White is the new tan!

Thank the heavens above that it is finally summer. I was looking back at last years summer bucket list. The things that I wasn't able to accomplish has been moved to this summer. They include things like buy a bike! So that is one of the first thOings on my list. I am also trying to work out more in general. Tonight I want to my very first Zumba! I had a blast shaking my butt! Hopefully I burned off the stupid ramen noodles I ate today. Oops!

I'd rather be blogging

I am working on finishing up (okay let me be honest starting and finishing up) my last papers and projects of the semester and it feels great! I added another three pages toward my 15 page paper due Wednesday and I have about 3 more pages to go to whip out tomorrow night! I guess the smart thing to do would be to continue working on those last three pages right now but in all honesty I would rather be blogging. :)

Chris has began working nights now. He has the 3-11 shift. It kind of reminds me of when he worked at AAA and would get home just as I was closing my last textbook of the night. Seems like this next week will be the same. I am excited for summer. Have I mentioned that in the last five posts. I guess you can tell it's been a longggg semester.

This past weekend we went to Newport, RI to visit the tourist shops and take a walk on the cliff walk along the ocean. It was a gorgeous day and I am so thankful I spent the day outdoors and of course near the ocean! I don't regret not doing my homework Saturday one bit! I know we took some pictures but I don't have any to post. I promise to try to have pictures in the next blog. Maybe one of me as I walk out of my last final in ten days!!

Short and Sweet

Sunday, April 22, 2012

The rain kept falling today,
caught in the cruel storm again.
I embrace myself as I step foot outside
the bitter reality bites my face.
Another day of rain,
Another day of disappointment.
“Oh the sun will come out tomorrow”
I can’t even find the melody to that song anymore.
Beginning to forget how the sun feels on my pale freckled skin
and even when the days begin to dry,
no hope is found in the puddles,
only mud and disgust is left behind.
No beauty is bloomed from the flowers,
now beaten to the ground and broken.
The only hope and beauty is in tomorrow
And what it may bring us,
That is—if you continue on for tomorrow.

Did you notice Spring Break ended?

If you didn't notice--Spring Break officially ended 3 weeks ago and I have been swamped in preparing lesson plans, papers, projects, portfolios and parties. Not enough parties though! I am done with my math lessons and I have two geography lessons left to teach! Woo hoo! Then just wrapping everything up! I really don't have any plans for summer yet but man I cannot wait! I think a part of me is actually excited to work full time and stack up the bills in my bank!

I am loving my new hair cut! Inspired by Chris, the lady in the hair magazine and the cool guy with pink hair at JCPennys who enjoyed cutting my hair way too much!

That's all for now! Short and Sweet just like me <3

Spring Cleaning..Fresh Start

Hello everyone,

I know it has been a long time since I have written. You can all thank Katie for getting me back on the blog wagon and hopefully this time I don't leave you hanging. This past week was Spring Break! Very very relaxing! I had many things on my to-do list for this past week and I am only in the middle of the first thing. The first thing on my to-do list was to read The Road by Cormac Macarthy for one of my literature classes. I have about an hour left to go and I should be done with it! Everything else left on my to-do list will just have to wait until Sunday. I am sure I will be cramming and crazy trying to race to get everything done but I would have to say I really enjoyed really relaxing these past few days.

I put in extra hours at the office and with the little guys that I work with. The weather has been nice so I have been able to take the kids outside and play!! We can't wait to get out all of the lawn toys and then soon the one little guy will be able to open up his swimming pool!

This semester has been completely crazy. I am taking two education practicum courses. Math and Social Studies. I teach about the United States to a fourth grade classroom in inner city Providence. It has been one of the biggest challenges and learning experiences yet in college! I teach my first math lesson next Tuesday so hopefully it goes well! Along with these two classes I am taking three literature courses! So if I am not writing a lesson plan then I can be found with my nose in a book. Out of the books we have done thus far I really only enjoyed one so it's been a rough couple of books that I have forced myself to get through. Especially when I have the book Chris gave me for Valentine's Day staring at me and saying "pick me up and read me instead!"

Here is the book I got for Valentine's Day. I did start it! It talks about the importance of one moment in a child's life and how that one moment can make or break the student for life. Great inspirational read for anyone who works with kids!

Well, wish me luck as I finish these other book! I will work hard to write on this blog and keep you all up to date with the news from the Lil' Rhodie!

P.S. In ten minutes Chris will have finished his 4th week at the Correctional Officer Academy! Five more weeks to go!!! Great job hun! I am so proud of you. Out of over 4000 people who applied Chris made it!! That is because he is awesome of course!
